Our Story

Since its creation in 2020 by founder Matthew Creel, Tidy Butt has grown from a private Facebook group for people to share their experiences with issues around mental health to a registered charity presenting wellbeing talks to schools, businesses and professional sports organisations.

Tidy butt was founded in March 2020 by Matthew Creel.

Matthew had his own issues with his mental health in the past and when looking for support in his local area he felt like there wasn’t anything that he could resonate with, so decided there and then to start something to share experiences and look for peer to peer support.

"I decided that to make change in my life I needed to overcome fear, take action and make myself accountable for the way I was feeling."

Matthew joined forces with an old teammate and former Welsh Rugby international Rhys Thomas, who had his own struggles with mental health and addiction.

Rhys has used his battle with a heart condition and life experiences to inspire others to overcome mental health and addiction problems.

"Impacting people's lives in positive way was something I knew I wanted to do at the beginning of my sobriety."
